Description
This Scuderia dining table is designed by Carlo Scarpa (1906 - 1978) in the Seventies. The table is made of Italian walnut and features double cylindrical legs. The matching walnut Scuderia sideboards, as well as the Pamplona dining chairs by Augusto Savin, are available in other listings.
Carlo Scarpa (1906-1978) was an Italian designer and architect influenced by the materials, landscape, Venetian and Japanese cultures, and Modernism. He turned his knowledge and interest in history, regionalism, and craftsmanship into ingenious glass and furniture designs; and his architecture reflects a deep awareness of the steep marks of history, and masterful attention to detail and integration of ancient crafts within a clearly modern aesthetic.
Carlo Scarpa is known as a virtuoso of light, a master of detail and a connoisseur of materials. He is most well-known for his architectural projects, counting 58 in total. Most famous are the Castelvecchio Museum in Verona, the Olivetti showroom in Venice and the Brion Tomb in San Vito d’Altivole. His lush use of decorative aspects and crafted details are still unrivaled. His designs show very clear traits of Scarpa’s aesthetic language that holds the middle between Japanese minimalism and organic forms of nature. -
